Ministry Update

Parker Street Ministries had it's ribbon cutting last Thursday for the newly renovated Family Life Center.  We purchased the property (which includes the gym/classroom, sanctuary and office building) last September when Wesley Memorial United Methodist church closed it's doors after close to 100 years.  We had been using their gym/classrooms for several years to run our programs.  They were very gracious to allow us space in the building.  The gym was built in 1950.  I don't think any renovations had been done since it was built.  It was very exciting to give new life to the building.

Amazing gym after!
Great lighting! The floors aren't complete in this picture and curtain hasn't been hung.

It was so exciting to see all the people who came out to see the ribbon cutting, despite the terrible storms and tornados earlier in the day.   Tim did such a great job thanking/ introducing the people that we chose to stand with the ribbon during the ceremony.  The children of our After-school program behaved so well.  They were so patient as they waited to go into their new classrooms.

My two favorite parts of the renovation are the kitchen and the lighting in the gym.  I got to use the kitchen for the first time yesterday for our Adult Bible Study.  It was so exciting to be back in the kitchen after months of cooking at my house and transporting the food to serve out of the sanctuary.

The rest of the renovations will be complete by the fall and we will have a big GRAND Opening!
It is amazing to think back to the beginning when were were in the Shepherd House that was a converted bar.  God has really brought us a long way and sustained us thru the last 14 years.  It will be exciting to see where he takes the ministry in the next 14 years.
